Makiba Foster

Makiba J. Foster is a college library administrator and founder of Distinctly Diasporic LLC. Distinctly Diasporic provides expertise to libraries, archives, and museums related to building and enhancing collections that focus on Black Diasporic cultures, history, and influence. Her career includes tenures at private academic libraries as well as renowned public research libraries that focus on Black history and culture. Throughout her career, Makiba has increasingly directed her work in libraries and archives towards reimagining services to better serve and positively impact the community. Makiba enjoys merging her passion for arts and culture education, along with creating innovative social experiences. Capitalizing on these synergies with her service to Black Genius in Flight’s (BGIF) board of directors, Makiba is excited to support BGIF’s mission.
